Serverless Ballerina

Serverless computing is becoming increasingly popular in cloud native development. It provides advantages to an organization in terms of cost, scalability, and agility. Ballerina was created to make integrations simple. It also adds agility to the development process. What will happen when Ballerina meets serverless? A couple of serverless platforms have already started supporting Ballerina as a runtime.

In this talk, Rodric, Adnan and Amila will speak about the advantages of adopting a serverless strategy, the work they have done in running Ballerina in OpenWhisk and Kubeless, and other efforts going on to support Ballerina in the serverless world.


Rodric Rabbah OpenWhisk

Rodric Rabbah is the co-founder of CASM LLC, a new venture aimed at delivering the promises of serverless computing to enterprise businesses. He is one of the original creators of Apache OpenWhisk, the premiere open-source serverless platform and remains its leading technical contributor. In a previous role, he led IBM Research's serverless computing strategy and worked directly with IBM's biggest serverless clients. He is excited to bring his experience to new grounds. He enjoys swimming and playing t-ball with his kids, and has a reputation for answering OpenWhisk community questions at all hours of the day.

Adnan Abdulhussein Kubeless

Adnan Abdulhussein is a Software Engineer at Bitnami, where he works on building tools to make apps easier to run on Kubernetes. He contributes to the Kubernetes community as a co-chair of SIG-Apps and a core maintainer of the Helm project. Adnan is passionate about cloud-native infrastructure, developer tools & experience, open source and the possibility of time travel. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Bristol.
